What I believe in

Research in Social Justice

My research carries the vision and goal of societal transformation. My research in social justice is about making social change by challenging and analyzing power and hierarchies in structures, policies, and lived experiences. In my research, I challenge these hierarchies in different research areas such as teacher education, higher education, and policy analysis by examining the role of and privileges subsumed by neoliberalism and Eurocentric values and views in Western society.

Teaching

As a social justice education scholar who upholds values of equity, diversity, and inclusion, while acknowledging power, privilege, different needs, and histories of each marginalized community. I hope to bring unity in upholding each other with support, alliance-building, and championing humanitarian perspectives with values of care, respect, and love.

I believe that we have the strength and depth of an ocean when we are a community. And for me, this strength of a community comes alive in the university classroom in each course I teach. I encourage critical questions, discussions, and philosophical thinking in all my courses to help provide a space for creative thinking and new possibilities with respect to rethinking the structures of schools and society.

Service

I recognize the service to the university, academic community, and the broader community as my responsibility and ethical duty to our society. Owing to my service commitment, I have had the honor of working on a variety of committees, and local, national, and international organizations.
